Doctors
At the Arberlandkliniken, we apply the collective agreement for doctors at local authority hospitals (TV-Ärzte/VKA). Standard working hours: The standard weekly working time is 40 hours. On-call duty: On-call duty is calculated differently depending on the on-call level (I to III). Level III on-call duty, for example, counts as 90 % of working time, whilst levels I and II are counted at a lower rate. On average, you can expect to work 4–5 on-call shifts per month.
Our doctors' salaries are based on the TV-Ärzte/VKA collective labour agreement. In the case of managerial positions, we take plenty of time to harmonise mutual expectations.
The probationary period is usually six months.
There are a variety of further training opportunities, including specialist training, specialisations and additional qualifications. Details can be found in the "Assistant & Specialist Doctors" section.
The Arberland Clinics support further training and offer internal training courses as well as financial support for external training courses. You will receive up to 10 additional days of training leave per year.

We offer financial support to two students per calendar year for a maximum of twelve semesters. Scholarship holders are selected by an internal selection committee.
In the first six semesters, the scholarship holder receives a study grant in the form of a non-interest-bearing loan of € 400.00 per month for the purpose of securing maintenance. The loan is granted for a maximum of six semesters.
If the scholarship holder is accepted into the funding programme during their undergraduate studies, the study grant is reduced by the number of semesters already completed.
After passing the Physikum or entering the main clinical centre (usually from the seventh semester), the scholarship holder receives a study grant in the form of a scholarship of € 500.00 per month, but for a maximum of six semesters. If the degree programme is terminated early, the scholarship payment also ends.
The total amount of the study grant awarded during the degree programme therefore amounts to a maximum of € 32,400.00. The planned loan portion of this is € 14,400.00.
The scholarship comprises an amount of € 18,000.00, which does not have to be repaid upon fulfilment of the contract.
- After completing your studies, you will be contractually bound to the Arberlandkliniken for at least three years (full-time assistant doctor in TV-Ärzte/VKA EG I Level 1).
- During the working phase, you repay the advance payment in monthly instalments of € 400 each.
- Any uncertainties, such as dropping out or interrupting studies, are regulated within the framework of a scholarship agreement.
- If you drop out during the first semester, there is no repayment obligation.
- If you do not commence your service with us after completing your studies, you will have to repay the full amount of the funding granted (repayment in monthly instalments is possible).
- If you leave the clinics before the end of the three-year contract period, a partial repayment will be due depending on the duration of the contract.

MediStart is one of the leading agencies for arranging medical study places for school leavers from Germany. The international agency advises prospective students and their parents on studying human medicine without a numerus clausus or waiting period. MediStart organises the "MediTest-EU" admissions test and interview required for proof of eligibility to study medicine online from home.
Our partner ensures a smooth process during the entire application phase and accompanies the scholarship holders as a mentor on site from the start of their studies right through to graduation. MediStart also helps with finding accommodation, registration office matters, enrolment and networking with other German students who have already been in the country for some time.
Further information about MediStart, the contact persons and their services can be found at: www.medistart.de.

- The "MediTest-EU" entrance examination including a motivation interview must be passed for admission to the degree programme. The test consists of a written part (60% -> approx. 120 minutes) focussing on biology/chemistry/general knowledge and a motivation and aptitude interview (40% -> approx. 15-20 minutes). The test is carried out online at the participant's home via PC/notebook/tablet. The entrance exam is successfully passed if at least 70% of the points to be achieved have been achieved.
- After passing the selection test, the scholarship holder has the option of taking part in a three-week course in English to prepare for their studies. MediStart will clarify the details.
- The completion of an English-language medical degree programme abroad generally requires basic knowledge of the local language in the clinical semesters, i.e. basic knowledge of the Croatian language at B2 level must be acquired and demonstrated during the course of the degree programme.
- During their studies, the scholarship holder will be provided with a medical contact person for questions relating to their medical studies. The scholarship holder should complete internships (clinical traineeship, nursing internship, etc.) within the Arberland Clinics as part of their studies, if this is recognised according to the study or examination regulations.

They can choose between general surgery, trauma surgery & orthopaedics, visceral surgery, vascular surgery, anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine and internal medicine.
